We are the eXpandable AI Network
Researchers. Innovators. Game changers.
At XAIN, we build solutions that bring enterprises to the forefront of AI utilization. We tackle the dilemma of unlocking the full power of AI without compromising data privacy. XAIN’s origin was a joint research project by CEO Leif-Nissen Lundbaek and Imperial College London Professor as well as CTO at XAIN Michael Huth.
Research is in our DNA and today serves as our driving force for further innovation. XAIN aims to solve some of the biggest challenges in the research field of privacy-preserving AI, particularly focusing on Federated Machine Learning.

Chief Executive Officer
Academically trained as a mathematician, Leif-Nissen Lundbaek’s work focuses mainly on algorithms and applications for privacy-preserving artificial intelligence.
In 2017, Leif developed the eXpandable AI Network (XAIN) as a cyber-security protocol that combines AI with privacy paradigms. Since then, his company has won multiple awards, such as the Porsche’s first-ever Innovation Contest, and worked successfully with many blue-chip companies.
Leif-Nissen received his M.Sc. in Software Engineering at University of Oxford with distinction as well as an M.Sc. in Mathematics at Heidelberg University.
Prof. Michael Huth
Chief Technology Officer
Michael Huth is CTO of XAIN AG and a Professor of Computer Science at Imperial College London. He is a Diplom-Mathematiker (TU Darmstadt, Germany) and obtained his Ph.D. in 1991 (Tulane University of Louisiana, USA).
His research focuses on cybersecurity (notably the interplay of trust, security, risk, and economics), as well as security and privacy in machine learning. Michael served as the technical lead of the Harnessing Economic Value theme at PETRAS IoT Cybersecurity Research Hub in the UK.
Professor Huth is an active research and product advisor within London’s cybersecurity startup scene.
Chair of Supervisory Board
Felix Hahmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Project Manager at XAIN, started his career at E.ON and IBM in system administration, software development and project management.
After graduating in Computer Science, Felix continued his career as an IT Project Manager at the Daimler Factory Berlin (Mercedes-Benz).
After leading various projects that provided him with first-hand experience of artificial intelligence and DLT technology, in 2017 Felix co-founded and set up XAIN as a company together with Leif-Nissen and Michael. He was appointed chairman of the supervisory board in 2019.
